CRASH FREE ENGINEERING

Quick summary:

1. Contains L-Theanine to provide smoother delivery of energy from caffeine and tapered comedown.

2. Contains Cocoa Extract and Rhodiola Rosea to assist/help the body adapt to changes in stimulation.

3. Includes L-Glycine, potent nootropic and super-amino that may help calm the brain.

The comedown we all face from caffeine (crashing) is not only one of the biggest problem's consumers face when buying these beverages but also representative of a massive challenge faced by manufacturers. Gamers will always seek to manage and minimise this unpleasant side-effect and naturally commercial brands are falling over themselves to provide the solution. But what goes up must come down right? There’s little wonder then why manufacturer claims of ‘crash free’ formulations are met with scepticism when there appears to be little more than the usual industry standard hit of caffeine.

Indeed, research shows that caffeine levels can surge within as little as 10 minutes (1) and this can put unnecessary stress on the heart and Central Nervous System (CNS) (2). Many look to minimise the comedown by taking another serving, but how long until we are confronted with the need to stop? And in the immediate aftermath of taking several servings, how do we feel? Yes, manufacturer claims of ‘crash free’ formulations should be met with a degree of trepidation and scepticism.

But what if there was a way in which science and nature could combine to deliver-up a smoother delivery of caffeine? A way in which the comedown could be tapered as the caffeine begins to wear off? With mind and body supported in the process by alternative, more subtle sources of energy that don’t put unnecessary stress on the heart and CNS? A way in which helps the body to adapt to changes in stimulation? What if there was a way to help you recover faster naturally, through a better-quality nights sleep achieved through a drop in core body temperature (increased by caffeine)? A way that may also have a natural calming effect on the brain? Too good to be true? Or a genuine next generation formulation?

These are clearly difficult questions to answer, but a challenge we decided to embrace nonetheless. So, first of all we decided to include L-Theanine, a non-dietary (rare) amino acid that serves as a relaxing agent (3) that’s noted to aid concentration (4). L-Theanine has also been shown to provide a smoother delivery of energy from caffeine while taking the ‘edge’ off the crash by providing a natural calming effect (5) without sedation. Interestingly for gamers, L-Theanine works synergistically alongside caffeine by helping reduce the ‘jitter effect’ too (6).

In addition to L-Theanine we’ve also included Theobromine (present in Cocoa powder) and Rhodiola Rosea to offer additional support as the caffeine begins to wear off. Theobromine is so subtle it doesn’t even stress the CNS (7) Rhodiola Rosea is a research proven ‘adaptogen’ – a nontoxic herb native to the mountainous regions of Europe and Asia that not only provides a stimulant free source of energy (8) and increase in mental capacity (9) but also helps the body adapt (hence the term adaptogen) to stressful situations, much like the comedown felt from taking caffeine (10).

Furthermore, for those of you gaming well into the night L-Glycine (super-amino and potent nootropic) has been added which may have a calming effect on your brain (11) and can help you fall and stay asleep by lowering your core body temperature (12). Research has also shown that L-Glycine decreases how long it takes to fall asleep, improves sleep quality and reduces daytime sleepiness while supporting cognition processes (non-drowsy) (13) – leaving you with the ultimate crash-free formulation.

Still need convincing? Well, it’s worth noting that through the numerous stages of product development/market research (as we tweaked the formulation and flavour systems) the biggest surprise in terms of feedback from gamers was indeed the notable lack of crashing from taking ELX. A significant sample even rated this as the number 1 product benefit, feedback that really does speaks for itself.

ENHANCED LEVELS OF FOCUS / NOOTROPICS

Quick summary:

1. High in 10 research proven nootropics for enhanced cognitive functioning.

2. These are L-Glycine, Inositol, Taurine, Choline Bitartrate, L-Tyrosine, Acetyl L-Carnitine, L-Theanine, Rhodiola Rosea, Cocoa Extract and Vitamin D3.

3. This stack plays an essential role in synthesising serotonin and dopamine – feel good hormones.

4. May help reduce anxiety by controlling release of adrenaline 'stress hormone.'

The positive effects of enhanced levels of focus are numerous. From better in-game performance and problem solving to increased memory and improved mood. You could even make a case for more effective in-game communication, such is the importance of a clear, laser like focus. So, doesn’t it make sense to support, nourish and feed the mind with an extensive, unique and highly dosed blend of nootropics? That serve to unlock the brains full potential without stressing the central nervous system, potentially creating unnecessary player anxiety?

Enter ELX®. ELX® is engineered with exactly this in mind, with a gaming community first synergistic stack comprising of L-Tyrosine, Choline, Inositol and Taurine. These 4 research proven active ingredients are highly reviewed, popular and respected supplements in their own right and can increase levels of cognitive functioning without compromising your health and wellbeing. When combined they really do form a super-stack designed to level up your gaming by delivering safe, long-term results you can rely upon.

In fact, this stack not only plays an essential role in synthesising serotonin and dopamine - feel good hormones (1) it may also improve mental performance in stressful situations (L-Tyrosine) (2). It’s highly beneficial for the nervous system, helping to transport fat and supporting metabolic functioning (3). Choline is an essential nutrient (4) that's strongly linked to improvements in memory, mood and even intelligence (5). This super-stack may also help combat the build-up of anxiety through the inclusion of Inositol - another industry first (6). To further strengthen your mentality and brain health Taurine has been shown to stabilise and calm the mind by slowing down the release of adrenaline, a catabolic (stress) hormone (7) that all competitive gamers suffer from during intensive periods of play.

ZERO SUGAR & MALTODEXTRIN

Some quick facts on Maltodextrin:

1. Maltodextrin raises blood-sugar levels faster than table sugar and has a glycemic index (GI) listing of up to 120.

2. Maltodextrin can be very conveniently categorised as a carbohydrate and not a sugar.

3. Typically powdered energy products can contain anything between a whopping 20-50% maltodextrin.

4. Maltodextrin is one of the cheapest and most common product fillers found in carbonated and formula energy drinks, meal replacement shake mixes and lots of ultra-processed junk foods.

5. Has no nutritional value or benefit to the gamer.

We are all familiar with the dangers of consuming too much sugar, subsequent ‘crashing’ and associated health risks but maltodextrin has definitely gone under the radar within the gaming community. Maltodextrin is a highly processed carbohydrate often sourced from rice, corn or potatoes and is extremely cheap to produce. It’s generally used as a food additive (or what we purists would refer to as a filler) namely for its sweetness and for the fact it can be conveniently listed as a carbohydrate and not a sugar. But this is misleading to say the least, a point highlighted by the Glycaemic Index (GI).

The GI rates carbohydrate-containing foods by how much they boost blood sugar (blood glucose). As you can imagine this is critical information for diabetics, but also important to gamers who want to game hard but game healthy. The GI maxes out at a total of 100 which is represented by the standard glucose. For reference purposes table sugar (sucrose) registers at 63. Maltodextrin however typically ranges from 85-120 which should ring alarm bells for health-conscious gamers who also want value for money.

OUTSTANDING VALUE FOR MONEY

Quick summary:

1. €39.85 for 440g (x40 11g servings - €0.99 per serving).

2. Other powdered energy drinks often contain between 20%-50% of maltodextrin (a filler) per 200g-400g pots.

3. Better value for money by purchasing up to and above 400% more active ingredients.

4. Save over 30% on ready to drink, canned alternatives.

Rival powdered energy drinks often contain between 30%-50% of maltodextrin per 200g-400g pots! This comes at a cost of just several cents per pot to the manufacturer. It also means you are spending your money on as little as 100g of active ingredients! In stark contrast ELX® contains 440g and contains zero sugars, maltodextrin or any other type of filler. So not only are you buying a superior engineered product suitable for next generation gamers, but you are also benefitting from substantially better value for money by purchasing (up to and above) 400% more active ingredients for approximately the same price.

Each pot of ELX® provides you with 40 full servings, which work out at just €0.98 each. Compare this to a typical price of €1.50 for a canned alternative and you’ll be making a saving of over 30% AND taking advantage of up to 400% more active ingredients - filler free!

RECOVER & RESPAWN

Quick summary:

1. Contains a revolutionary stack of L-Glycine, Acetyl L-Carnitine and Vitamin D3.

2. L-Glycine is a ‘super-amino’ and is both a potent nootropic and neurotransmitter.

3. L-Glycine has a calming effect on your brain.

4. Research suggests that people with low levels of Vitamin D are significantly more prone to depression.

As with all competitive sports, rest and recovery is an essential component to regularly attaining peak levels of performance; esports is no exception to this rule. We all know or at least suspect that gaming for many hours can take its toll on the mind and body. Indeed, high levels of screen time have been linked (a number of times) to a decline in a person's mental health. Research also suggests adults who spend six hours or greater using screen time are more likely to suffer from moderate to severe depression (1). This often leads to a lack of quality sleep bringing about its own physical problems such as fatigue as your body is denied the time it needs to naturally recover and respawn. 'Supplementing' with traditional energy drinks before and in–game only serves to exacerbate the situation by encouraging you and your bodily functions to work even harder. We believe a happy gamer is a dynamic gamer, so what can be done to address this depletion so you can perform at your very best on a daily basis?

ELX® contains a revolutionary new and industry first stack of L-Glycine, Acetyl L-Carnitine and Vitamin D3. L-Glycine is nothing short of a ‘super-amino’ and is both a nootropic and potent neurotransmitter. L-Glycine has many advantages that specifically benefit the competitive gamer, most of which centre around rest and recovery. Sleep deprivation is a common problem all avid gamers encounter from time to time. The combination of stimulants and prolonged screen time work together to make attaining a restful, deep sleep somewhat of a challenge. When we sleep our body’s turn their attention towards recovery and we all benefit from a natural release of our very own rejuvenating growth hormone (HGH). This is severely compromised when we deny ourselves the sleep we need so you’ll be glad to read that L-Glycine is a research proven, natural HGH stimulator (2). Furthermore L-Glycine has a calming effect on your brain (3) and can help you fall and stay asleep by lowering your core body temperature (4). Research has also shown that L-Glycine decreases how long it takes to fall asleep, improves sleep quality and reduces daytime sleepiness while supporting cognition processes (5).

We’ve also included Acetyl L-Carnitine (ALC) into ELX®, very much a popular product and the most bio-available (effective) form of another super-amino acid, Carnitine. ALC ‘feeds the mitochondria’ within a cell, when a cell starts to lose its energy (through weak mitochondria) degeneration occurs. Our brain makes up approximately 2% of our bodyweight but actually accounts for up to 20% of our body’s energy consumption. Therefore it’s vital that the mitochondria in your brain cells work properly – so they can supply your brain cells with the energy they need. This explains why ALC is used as an effective treatment for memory loss (6), so imagine how it can benefit your gaming over lengthy periods?

We finally consider Vitamin D to be an important addition to ELX®, so we’ve included the superior form Vitamin D3 as competitive gamers can often fall short of the required 30-60 minutes exposure to UVB rays required for our bodies to make adequate amounts. Consequences can be severe - feelings of tiredness and depression can take over and it’s no coincidence that research into Vitamin D and emotional health has shown a direct link between the two (7). Research suggests that people with low levels of Vitamin D are significantly more prone to depression than people with normal levels of the vitamin (8).

Ask yourselves, what other energy drink goes to these lengths to make sure you recover and respawn like a legend?

OPTIMAL UTILISATION OF ENERGY

Quick summary:

1. Contains a B Vitamin complex that includes Riboflavin (B2), Niacin (B3), Pantothenic Acid (B5), Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12.

2. Ensures maximum utilisation of energy.

3. Vitamin B complex helps to keep blood sugar and body fat in check.

4. B Vitamins have also long been associated with tackling stress and anxiety.

Have you ever considered the benefits of utilising your energy more efficiently and the effect this could have on your gaming performance and endurance? Well, we have and that’s why ELX contains a far-reaching B Vitamin complex that includes Riboflavin (B2), Niacin (B3), Pantothenic Acid (B5), Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12. This combination of B Vitamins can be advantageous in several ways and will help ensure maximum utilisation of energy from proteins, carbohydrates, and fats by converting calories into actual useable energy (1). This Vitamin B complex also helps to keep blood sugar and body fat in check (2), benefits that right now you may be missing out on. This is of particular importance to those who regularly game hard but deplete themselves by restricting calorie intake while gaming but still demand the very highest of standards.

B Vitamins have also long been associated with tackling stress and anxiety. In fact, medical experts commonly refer to these vitamins as the ‘stress vitamins’ as there’s considerable evidence B vitamins can be used to combat anxiety attacks and intense levels of stress (2). Supplementing with ELX will also help alleviate any previously unknown deficiencies keeping you on top of your game! A happy gamer is a performance gamer. Game Hard. Game Healthy. Game On.

SMOOTH DELIVERY OF SUSTAINED ENERGY

Quick summary:

1. Contains L-Theanine, Cocoa Extract and Rhodiola Rosea in addition to the Caffeine.

2. L-Theanine has also been shown to provide a smoother delivery of energy from the caffeine.

3. Cocoa Extract is a more subtle and sustained source of energy.

4. Contains Rhodiola Rosea a research proven ‘adaptogen’ and a stimulant free source of energy.

Whether you require a short-term energy boost or intend on gaming for hours, getting an edge over your competitors can make a big difference. We’re convinced that in order to achieve and maintain optimal levels of performance you need a lot more than just the ‘industry standard’ hit of caffeine. Typically, caffeine levels can surge within as little as little as 10 minutes (1) and this can put unnecessary stress on the heart and Central Nervous System (2) leading to unwanted mental and physical side-effects. These side-effects can range from anxiety and difficulty concentrating (mental) to an increase in blood pressure and the all too familiar jitters (physical). So how do we maximise the many established gaming benefits of caffeine without compromising our health, wellbeing and ultimately performance?

To address this specific problem ELX contains an exclusive blend of, L-Theanine, Cocoa Extract and Rhodiola Rosea in addition to the Caffeine. L-Theanine is a non-dietary (rare) amino acid that serves as a relaxing agent (3) that’s noted to aid concentration (4). L-Theanine has also been shown to provide a smoother delivery of energy from the caffeine while taking the ‘edge’ off the inevitable crash by providing a natural calming effect (5) without sedation. Interestingly for gamers, L-Theanine works synergistically alongside caffeine by helping reduce the ‘jitter effect’ too (6), essential for making ELX a technically superior ‘crash-free’ formulation.

Cocoa Extract is a more subtle and sustained source of energy as it contains Theobromine, which is in the same class of stimulants as caffeine, but quite different as it offers a longer lasting, more relaxed energy without the spike and crash (7). Cocoa Extract is also reputed to lower blood pressure (8) and help improve circulation (9), especially to the brain where it’s needed most to optimise performance driven cognitive functioning (10). Finally, we’ve included Rhodiola Rosea, a herb native to the mountainous regions of Europe and Asia which has several science-based benefits ideal for gamers. Rhodiola Rosea is a stimulant-free source of energy and endurance (11) while being shown to increase mental capacity (12). This therapeutic plant extract is also a so-called ‘adaptogen’ helping the body adapt to the daily grind of gaming hard (13).

TRANSPARENCY FOR GAMERS

We believe that all gamers deserve full product transparency. Complete product transparency doesn’t just help gamers avoid the pitfalls of purchasing ‘bulked up’ ineffective products. It also puts an end to ALL ‘proprietary blends’ by clearly listing each and every ingredient in the correct descending order for your convenience and added peace of mind.

ELX FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions

I’M VERY SENSITIVE TO 'CRASHING.' HOW CAN ELX BE A 'CRASH-FREE' ENERGY DRINK?

To start with, you are certainly not alone ‘crashing’ whether it be sugar or stimulant-based is a fundamental problem encountered by all energy drink manufacturers and consumers alike. You can address the sugar-based crash simply by removing the sugar but to remove stimulants too would heavily compromise two of the products prime objectives – to provide energy and focus.

So we decided to include L-Theanine, a non-dietary (rare) amino acid that serves as a relaxing agent (1) that’s noted to aid concentration (2). L-Theanine has also been shown to provide a smoother delivery of energy from the caffeine while taking the ‘edge’ off the inevitable crash by providing a natural calming effect (3) without sedation. Interestingly for gamers, L-Theanine works synergistically alongside caffeine by helping reduce the ‘jitter effect’ too (4).

In addition to L-Theanine we’ve also included Theobromine (present in Cocoa powder) and Rhodiola Rosea to help offer supporting sources of energy as the caffeine begins to wear off. Theobromine is so subtle it doesn’t even stress the Central Nervous Sytem (5) and the Rhodiola Rosea is a stim-free research proven ‘adaptogen.’ A non-toxic plant that not only provides a source of energy (6) and boost to mental capacity (7) but may also help the body adapt to stressful situations, much like the come down felt from taking caffeine (8).

Furthermore, for those of you gaming well into the night L-Glycine (super-amino and potent nootropic) has been added which may have a calming effect on your brain (9) and can help you fall and stay asleep by lowering your core body temperature (10). Research has also shown that L-Glycine decreases how long it takes to fall asleep ,improves sleep quality and reduces daytime sleepiness while supporting cognition processes (non-drowsy) (11) – leaving you with the ultimate crash-free formulation.

WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL REGARDING ZERO MALTODEXTRIN? NEVER EVEN HEARD OF IT.

Maltodextrin has definitely gone under the radar within the gaming community. Maltodextrin is a highly processed carbohydrate often sourced from, corn, wheat, rice or potatoes and is extremely cheap to produce and typically leaves a chalky residue in your mouth/glass. It’s generally used as a food additive (or what we purists would refer to as a filler) namely for its sweetness and for the fact it can be conveniently listed as a carbohydrate and not a sugar. But this is misleading to say the least, a point highlighted by the Glycemic Index (GI).

The GI rates carbohydrate-containing foods by how much they boost blood sugar (blood glucose). As you can imagine this is critical information for diabetics, but also of importance to gamers who want to game hard but game healthy. The GI maxes out at a total of 100 which is represented by the standard glucose.

Foods low on the GI scale release glucose slowly and steadily, whereas foods high on the GI release glucose rapidly. For reference purposes table sugar (sucrose) registers at 63. Maltodextrin however typically ranges from 85-120 which should ring alarm bells for health-conscious gamers who also want value for money.

Which flavour do you recommend/sells best?

We take the flavouring of our products extremely seriously and only invest in the most hi-tech flavour systems that work synergistically with our research driven formulations. We don’t accept any ‘trade-off’ between premium flavours and science-backed nutrition. We recommend you give them all a try at some point, you will not be disappointed. We’re split 50/50 between the Blue Raspberry and Mango flavours.

Occasionally there’s some settlement of ELX at the bottom of my shaker - WHY?

We can assure you that it’s perfectly normal and the settlement you are referring to is indeed L-Glycine which has a slightly shorter suspension time in water compared to maltodextrin. Unfortunately we are unable to micronise (increase surface area) L-Glycine to extend its suspension time due to the moisture released. This would inevitably leave the finished product prone to both clogging and hardening. L-Glycine is also naturally hygroscopic (attracts moisture from air) so we’ve included silica gel packets in each pot of ELX to prevent the product from attracting too much moisture and subsequently solidifying.

We decided the gaming benefits that L-Glycine delivers far outweigh the intermittent swirls if consumed over a longer period of time. In stark contrast, maltodextrin (a cloudy white powder in suspension) not only leaves a white, powdery residue but also settles to the bottom of the shaker/glass while offering no tangible benefits to the gamer over and above table sugar. Maltodextrin is effectively a product ‘filler’ and is responsible for the chalky taste that coats your mouth which is a key indicator of a ‘bulked up’ powdered energy drink.
